Operation Encompass is a police and education early information-sharing partnership enabling immediate support to children who have experienced domestic abuse.
The educational settings’ Operation Encompass Key Adult (designated safeguarding lead) will be notified about ALL police-attended incidents of domestic abuse before the start of the next school day. This allows the education setting to offer timely support to the child victims.
Operation Encompass has been placed on a statutory footing and is established in all police forces in England and Wales. Operation Encompass includes ALL educational settings.

Operation Encompass should be an integral component in child safeguarding and protection policies and, as such, should be cited in any such policies. On the education resources page there is a specimen safeguarding statement which should be downloaded and included in a setting's safeguarding policy. Participation in Operation Encompass mandates a secure record-keeping trail, which may be electronic or paper based. Within Operation Encompass all records are managed at Child Protection level with the highest level of security and confidentiality, and in full accordance with GDPR. These records are held by police and settings only.
